Draft 3:

Draft 3 of my video shows that i have the basic narrative of my video now complete, however i still have issues with some of the shot lengths - as in looking at other rock alternative videos there are often a lot of fast pace shots rather then few longer ones. Now that i have finished shooting however i can ensure to focus on the editing process and adding approprate effects where nescessary.
I asked for feedback off my subject teacher Tim Anderson, and after watching it i was advised to add a montage sequence to contrast against the strong narrative scenes. Another comment that was suggested to me was to ensure that if i need to have a longer shot add a 'jump cut' effect, this will keep the audience engaged and catch their attention. Other effects i could use to help with shot length would be to add reverse shots which are aesthetically pleaseing as well as fitting in with the theme of feeling lost and confused.

Filming Day 4

Sunday 3rd February 2013:
Trees/Wooded Area:

Many shots of my film are set in a wooded area. This is to symbolise the main character is lost and feeling possibly trapped- in his own mind and in his life. I began shooting with Joe and Lucy at 1:30pm to do the shots that have them both in it, the main issue I had was that under the tree's the lighting was very dim at times, this lead to us finding a new- less enclosed location that was easier to shoot in, and looked higher quality on film. The filming in this area took 2 and a half hours due to me wanting jump shots and high speed shot changes at this point of the video. The props I needed to use in this scene were a bottle of pills and a vodka bottle.

Draft 2: (February)

After filming at the weekend i decided to add my footage to the existing draft i have. I did this by looking at where shots were placed on my animatic and storyboard that i produced before i began filming, and ultimatley this has really helped me to get through filming quickly in locations such as the trainstation, where i wanted to avoid unnescessarily filming members of the public as possible.
This draft shows a rough edit of how i will place shots within my final video- however i am aware that to improve this edit i will need to look at cutting down the length of certain shots to make it more interesting to watch, and also maybe add a few more of the shots that i filmed.

Filming Day 3:

Saturday 2nd February:
Location/s: Train Line, Graveyard

Train Station:
I decided to film at the trainstation and wanted to capture images going through the station. This was a challenge as not many trains actually arrived at the station and much of the footage wasnt suitable for the video because the film caused a dark shadow over the camera making the footage blurred. This lead to me filming from the bridge down onto the track to create and image of the train passing under the track. This works well as i can speed it up in the editing process to make it look like a rush and fit it to the speed and pace of my music.
Filming here took about 45 minutes and the weather conditions were appropriate for my video as they were mild and sunny which is something i wanted to achieve as i want my video to give off a feel that it was shot in springtime.
Looking back at the footage i believe there is a good sense of continuity between the shots which will re-enforce the narrative within my video and ultimatley make it more interesting to my audience. I particularly like the shot of Joe walking down the stairs of the bridge in the station as the sun is in the top right corner of the shot, i believe this is effective and looks good within the shot as there is a contrast between the sun and the stars which are a theme of my video. I have also shown this in the images i have taken for my ancillary texts and is therefore a reoccuring theme that the audience can make links between.

Graveyard:The graveyard shots were filmed on the same day as i wanted the weather conditions to be the same so that the audience could establish that the train station and graveyard shots were supposed to be on the same day in the characters life. I filmed at a local graveyard near to college as it was easy to access and had shots which i believe look appropriate on screen and help the audience to immediatley establish that the setting is at a graveyard. These shots follow a narrative and therefore the continuity has to be clear- unlike the jump cut section i will be filming later on. Joe looks at images on his phone of him and his girlfriend which immediatley tells the audience that she is the one that is dead- which is something that hasn't been made clear until now and is an important part of the narrative.
